I’m all for a fruity green tea. It makes me feel comforted.

Tell us about YOU?

I was born and raised in Canberra. I fell in love with music at a young age and was basically singing before I could talk. Nearly a quarter of a century later and I’m finally working on my own music! I’m very passionate about self care, our environment and how we treat all beings on the planet (our family/friends, neighbours, pets, animals in general). I’m an event manager who’s of course been knocked around by Covid so now also a Twitch streamer (username: JannahYall). I think video games have brought a lot of people together in these weird times and Animal Crossing is basically my therapy now. 

Tell us about A Vegan State of Mind / Between the Lines (whichever you would like to share) and how it came to be?

My business Between The Lines Events started out as a school project in Year 10 where I put on a concert at Woden Youth Centre for charity. I’d always been to concerts and wanted to learn how to organise them myself. After high school, I registered my business and started putting on concerts all around town and even interstate. Since then I’ve also taken on organising vegan festivals that promote a sustainable life for people, animals and our planet. Currently I run A Vegan State Of Mind which takes place twice a year (March and September) and showcases lots of market stalls, food/drink, guest speakers and live music. It’s a great day for the community to come together and celebrate a kinder way to live. I’d love everyone to come along and learn something useful they can do in their everyday life.

Do you have any lessons learnt/things you would do differently for those starting out in the business world? 

Definitely be cautious of who you work with. You will definitely clash with people or have different ideas. It’s important to be on the same page and be able to discuss any differences in opinions. Additionally, read all your contracts thoroughly before signing. If you don’t understand some of the legalities, it’s a good idea to have a lawyer look over it for you. 

How can we support *your business/es? 

Come along to an event! That’s the main way to support. Come and enjoy the festivities or have a stall at the next one. I also keep the socials up to date with lots of great stuff so you can follow along on the journey.

Any advice for those who are thinking about turning their dreams into a reality?
Picture that dream and then set out small goals. Everything is easier when we break it down. By setting small goals that lead up to the big dream, we are welcoming success.
