BOSS WOMAN 201 | RHYTHMIC BIRTH

A GIN AND TONIC WITH SARAH FROM RHYTHMIC BIRTH

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

My name is Sarah, I’m the woman behind Rhythmic Birth. I’m a Registered Nurse and Registered Paramedic here in the ACT, and I am now a qualified Hypnobirthing Australia Practitioner.

I have been a passionate advocate for women’s health education for many years, and this year I decided to extend that knowledge and move into the childbirth education space. In my (rare) spare time, you’ll find me practicing pilates, listening to a women’s health podcast, cooking, and spending time with my family and friends. I also have another small business @sjmsudge and was the first ever Boss Woman feature on the CBR Woman! It has been so incredible to see this community evolve and grow.

Tell us about Rhythmic Birth and how it came to be?

In my professional practice and clinical placement experiences, I became aware of common threads amongst the women I interacted with. I was devastated to discover that so many women in our community are underprepared when it comes to pregnancy and birth, and aren’t equipped with the knowledge they deserve when navigating the healthcare system during such a special time.

This inspired me to become a Hypnobirthing Australia Practitioner, and join a community of like minded women all over Australia.

Birth is the most beautiful, transformative life event a woman will experience. I truly believe all women deserve to feel empowered to birth their baby in whatever way they choose, and that all babies deserve to be born into an environment that is conducive to deep connection and love. As a practitioner I am here to hold space for all women in the community, and provide them with immersive, interactive, evidence based education. It is a true honour to share knowledge on how women and their birth partner’s can achieve a positive birth experience, and provide them with an individualised, holistic experience. I offer various Positive Birth Programs to suit all circumstances and needs.

How can we support Rhythmic Birth?

Follow me on Instagram @rhythmicbirth, share and save the posts that resonate with you, and spread the word with the women in your life that having an empowering and positive birth experience IS your right! I am also passionate about sharing the birth stories of women in our community, and would love to hear from you with your experiences.

Any advice for those who are thinking about turning their dreams into a reality?

Trust your intuition. If what you are doing feels aligned with the highest version of you, just do it. You will inevitably face challenges, doubt yourself, and wonder if it’s all really worth it, but always remember – you are the only person who knows what is right for you. How do YOU want to spend your one wild and precious life? (a quote from one of my favourite books of all time – Untamed by Glennon Doyle)
