Tell us a little bit about yourself?

My name Charise, I’m known as Chic to my family & close friends. I’m a proud wife, a mum, a Registered Nurse, a makeup artist and a florist. I grew up in the Philippines, moved to Australia 9 years ago and lived in Canberra since. I have been passionate with flowers, arts & crafts ever since I was young. I grew up following the footsteps of my lola (grandmother in Filipino) & mum who are the craftiest women I know and massive flower lovers themselves. My mum grew a huge variety of orchids & roses in our backyard when I was growing up. Both my parents are business minded individuals and they have influenced me a lot in running my own business too.

Tell us about MiChic Weddings and Events and how it came to be?

When I got married, I came to realize how much I enjoyed planning our wedding design. I paid so much attention to all the details, from the colour palette, flowers, backdrops, lighting, and ambience of the whole wedding, to the smallest details of place cards, linens, napkins and favours! Everything has to compliment one another and needs to be perfect. That moment ignited my passion to pursue my creativity side. Whilst working fulltime as a nurse and being heavily pregnant, I spent my days off and spare time studying Wedding Planning and Styling course and Certificate 3 in Floristry.

I built miChic through passion of providing a one-stop shop for one of a kind wedding & events styling and floral design needs. I work alongside my husband who’s my all around tradie and also a creative enthusiast himself. We work hand in hand to provide the most amazing experience to all our clients on their events.

Any advice for those wanting to turn their dream into a reality?

Having a clear goal on what you actually want to achieve and strong passion will be your drive to keep going. Write down your goals, envision it and work hard for it. Mistakes and mishaps happen along the way, don’t beat yourself up but instead learn from it. Stand up and keep working on it. No one becomes successful overnight, trust the process.
