BOSS WOMAN 061 WHAT IF MEDIA

A TEA WITH ASHLEE FROM WHAT IF MEDIA

What is your drink of choice?

I am an absolute tea fiend! My current favourite being the delicious Blue Mountain Tea.

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

My name is Ashlee Kate Robertson or Ash. I am a Canberra creative with a passion for storytelling in the form of film, music, and the written word.

I own and operate What If Media Australia, a small business dedicated to creating an array of video and digital media content for artists, venues, businesses, musicians, and a number of other clients across the east coast of Australia.

I also write short stories, poems, and a blog about my experiences as an indie filmmaker at ashleekaterobertson.com

When I’m not standing behind a camera or working away at my computer, you’ll find me singing and playing my ukulele in my living room or dancing away in the crowd at a rock concert.

Tell us about What if Media and how it came to be?

In 2015 I took the first step towards pursuing my dreams by studying an advanced diploma of Screen and Media. From there, I started my own business part-time collaborating with the wonderful creatives and dear friends I was fortunate to meet during my study. Together we created a myriad of content, including music videos, short films, live event coverage, and promotional videos, to name a few. At the same time, I took on a variety of short-term contracts with private enterprises and developed my marketing and campaign management skills. In June 2019 (after an important pep talk with my partner) I rebranded as ‘What If Media’ and took the plunge; putting all my efforts into my business full-time.

How can we support What if Media?

If you or someone you know is looking for a music video, short film, promotional video, live event coverage, or any digital content creation, please send them our way! I’d love to collaborate!

Any advice for those wanting to turn their dream into a reality?

There is no tomorrow; there is only now!

I know from first-hand experience following your dreams can be terrifying and at times can seem utterly impossible, but if you start now instead of tomorrow, you’re well on your way. It will take a lot of hard work and determination, but keep moving forward, keep getting back up if you fall, keep focused, you can and will get there.
